COLLIN COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Collin County Commissioner’s Court is debating TxDOT’s preference on the Highway 380 bypass project to ease traffic congestion that has caused problems in the area for years.
The department said it prefers one with three separate bypasses: one between Prosper and Mckinney, another north of Princeton, and the third south of Farmersville.
Collin County resident Tara Voy fought back tears as she spoke at Tuesday’s meeting and said this project would change her life for the worse.
“Last night’s decision became a reality for my family and this morning I spoke to my kids because I knew that a bypass would soon take our home,” she said.
Voy told the commission that news of the project came as a devastating blow to her family but she wanted to make her kids aware of what will happen in the future.
“My kids understand and they’ve watched their mom and dad fight and this is what I sent them to school with because a lot of their friends would have heard and I would rather them hear the answer from their mom and not their friends,” she said.
TxDOT is holding a meeting in Princeton Tuesday night and in Prosper Thursday to explain their decision.
