DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Janette Kennedy Gallery opens it’s doors to showcase moments with Dallas Police Officers.
Senior Corporal Lindsey Allen calls it “The Faces of Service Exhibition” because each photo tells a story and shows officer’s dedication. “I can remember each little story about the picture whether it was SWAT putting on their equipment or when an intern became an officer…each story explains the faces of our department,” Allen said.
Allen started taking pictures for recruiting purposes but little did she know the department would want her to put them all on display for the public.
“I’ve only been taking photos for around a year,” Allen said. “It’s crazy.. I was so nervous when I first started it but when I started putting pictures on the wall I was like oh, wow this is going to be really cool,” she said.
Allen said she’s proud of this accomplishment and says it really captures the hard work and dedication of the department. “I’ve also got the chance to meet new people within the department.. there’s 3,000 people but I get to meet new people and tell their story through pictures,” she said. The gallery is free and open for everyone until the end of the month. It’s located on 1409 South Lamar, right across the street from Dallas Police Headquarters.
