Incident with Suspects, DART Police Prompts El Centro College Lockdown

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – DART and El Centro College Police are investigating an incident that prompted a lockdown at the college Tuesday.

According to DART Police, Officers at Rosa Parks Plaza were approached by a woman who said she saw three men with a gun.

“Our officers pursued [the suspects] and detained them in an El Centro parking lot,” said DART Spokesman Morgan Lyons. “A firearm was found nearby. It is not clear if the gun is connected to this incident.”

El Centro was locked down just before noon and reopened about 45 minutes later.

“I was coming to the elevator going into the school store and they had me run in there,” said a student who left school for the rest of the day after the lockdown was lifted.

“We had to bunker inside the classroom,” said another student. “Some of the other students saw some Officers passing by trying to look through the hallways.”

DART Police said Tuesday afternoon that two suspects were being held for questioning and that a third suspect may have been involved.
