DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Visitors to Frisco ISD elementary schools will be vetted by a new security system similar to home doorbell identification devices.

A statement issued by the Frisco ISD Sunday explains that a security camera will be used to view visitors and their identification documents (driver’s license or passport) before being allowed into a reception area where they will be given a visitor’s badge.

The new system is initially being used at Smith Elementary and will be implemented at all Frisco ISD elementary classes by the end of this summer.

WFAA reports the district has also installed emergency lockdown technology on all campuses and will be installing bullet-proof glass in windows.

Funding for the new security measures was approved by voters in 2018.
