No More Library Fines In Plano

Plano (WBAP/KLIF) – Effective October 1, anyone checking out materials from Plano Public Library will no longer be charged overdue fines on those materials.

Under the revised policy, items will still have dues dates and patrons are responsible for managing their accounts and materials borrowed. No fines will be assessed when borrowed materials become overdue. However, accounts will be blocked from using Plano Public Library resources or borrowing until materials are returned. Fees for lost and damages items will still apply.

“Our library is here to be used, and eliminating overdue fines removes barriers for those who most need our resources. We hope that anyone who has hesitated to return materials due to overdue fines will come back and enjoy the library,” said Director of Libraries Libby Holtmann.
