Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The former Balch Springs police officer convicted of murder won’t face additional aggravated assault charges.
A jury found Roy Oliver guilty of murder in the shooting death of Jordan Edwards and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
On Tuesday, a judge dismissed four aggravated assault charges against Oliver.
The charges stem from Oliver allegedly pulling a gun on two women while off duty, and from the two other teenagers in the car with Edwards when he was shot.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office says with the charges dismissed the county won’t have to try the aggravated assault cases while Oliver appeals his murder conviction.
