FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — Fort Worth celebrity chef Grady Spears was arrested early Tuesday following a report of domestic violence. When police arrived at Spears’ home his wife, Wendy Mann-Spears, had bruises on her face and body. She told officers her husband had hit her multiple times. Now she’s defending him.

In a Facebook post later that evening she said her husband has been battling debilitating back pain with prescribed medication. She also said he has been very busy and not keeping close track of when he takes his pills.

Mann-Spears went on to say her 49-year-old husband “does not condone violence. He’s a people person. He’s a people pleaser.” She thanked people for the outpouring of love and support she and her husband have received and assured the concerned that her marital relationship with him is good.

“Our commitment has always been unwavering. We are one,” she wrote.

Fort Worth attorney Trent Loftin told the Star-Telegram Spears is “devastated by the allegations against him. He is a loving husband and father.”

Spears posted bail and was released from Tarrant County jail shortly after his arrest. He is facing a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

Spears is known as a top chef and manager/owner of a string of restaurants in Fort Worth. He has also written several cookbooks.
