DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — The NRA Convention taking place in Dallas this week just added a big-name guest speaker.
President Trump will be making an appearance and speaking at the NRA’s annual legislative conference on Friday, along with the already scheduled appearance from Vice President Mike Pence. The trip to Dallas means Trump will have two scheduled visits to Dallas next month.
It will be the President’s third straight year attending the NRA conference and will come one day after several affected by the Sutherland Springs shooting will visit the White House for a national day of prayer.
The President and Vice President’s appearance, however, means guns will not be allowed at the portion of the conference they are speaking at. Gun control advocates are calling the extra security measures hypocritical, citing the NRA’s stance on guns making people safer.
On so many levels, this is enlightening. According to the NRA, we should want everyone to have weapons when we are in public. But when they put on a convention, the weapons are a concern? I thought giving everyone a gun was to enhance safety. Am I missing something? https://t.co/f4wgNhJ7RI

The NRA conference begins on Thursday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Dallas city leaders have criticized the NRA for hosting the event in the wake of several incidents of gun violence in recent months, including the Parkland, Florida school shooting in February.
