Sewage Leak Prompts Evacuation of Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Forney

FORNEY  (WBAP/KLIF News) –  A sewage leak led to the evacuation of Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Forney Tuesday afternoon.

The City of Forney’s Kyle Rouvaldd said first responders were called in around 8:45 a.m. when numerous staff and patients complained about a foul odor that was making them sick.

He said the Forney Fire Department and Dallas Fire Rescue checked the building a said a sewage leak was to blame for the toxic odor.

“It was determined that the source was a sewer gas. So, you can imagine that’s where the smell was coming from and why people were feeling a little sick at the time,” he said.

Ruvaldd said that it was decided that the building needed to be aired out while crews worked on fixing the leak.

“As of now, the building is still closed and the property management have crews out there fixing the leak,” he said.

He said only one patient had to be transferred to another facility but that situation was from a separate call.
