FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing on New Year’s Day and most of Tuesday next week. The National Weather Service says while it’s possible that freezing rain and snow are possible overnight Saturday the chance of precipitation for New Year’s Eve is only 20 percent in Tarrant County.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Godwin told the Fort Worth Star Telegram that the percentage of probability could drop lower.
“We’re unsure at this time,” Godwin said. “The weather pattern we’re expecting is not really conducive for precipitation on New Year’s [Eve] night.”
Godwin went on to say that even without snowfall wind chills could drop to around five degrees above zero.
“On New Year’s Day we could very well have temperatures struggling to get into the 30s,” Godwin said.
