Suspect shot, Two Officers Hit by Stolen Car in Arlington

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Arlington Police Department is investigating an Officer involved shooting after two Officers were hit by a stolen car.

According to Police, Officers responded to an Arlington motel on a suspicious person call and found the man to be driving a stolen car. When they tried to pull him from the car he threw it in reverse and hit two Officers.

“He was refusing to surrender and he decided to use his vehicle as a deadly weapon,” Arlington Police Lieutenant Chris Cook said.

One Officer was hit in the knee and suffered minor injuries. The other Officer was pinned between the door and the door frame and shot the suspect on his way to the ground. He and the suspect were taken to the hospital.

The suspect, identified as 39-year old Shaun Veloz, will be charged with two felony counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and one felony count of Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle.
