Modified U.S Travel Order Begins Thursday Night

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Travelers coming into the United States from one of six mostly Muslim countries will have stricter rules beginning Thursday night.

President Trump’s modified travel ban goes into effect Thursday at 7:00pm. It affects travelers arriving from Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Yemen, and Iran.

The new regulations only allow passengers from those countries to enter the U.S if they can prove a close relationship with somebody already living on U.S soil, such as a parent, child, or spouse. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and fiances, however, do not fall under what the government considers a close relationship.

At DFW Airport, the new rules are not expected to affect international travel on their first day being implemented. Only three flights are scheduled to arrive at DFW from Middle Eastern countries, and they all arrive before the 7:00pm. They also are from countries not listed in the new regulations.

A handful of international airlines have warned passengers of delays, but DFW Airport is not expecting any backups.
