A sealed indictment has been handed down in a new case against the former Balch Springs Police Officer charged with murder in the shooting death of teenager Jordan Edwards.
This indictment involves Roy Oliver allegedly pulling a gun on a woman after a car accident while he was off duty in April, just two weeks before Edwards was killed. Attorney Lee Merritt represents the Edwards family and says if the incident would have been handled quicker, Edwards could still be alive.
“If Balch Springs Police would have done their job before Jordan was killed, because they were aware of this incident as well, we would not have to be dealing with this tragedy,” said Merritt.
Merritt said he believes Oliver is a danger to society.
“If you look this his record, he was a violent, aggressive, and scary individual,” Merritt said.
An arrest warrant is expected to be issued for Oliver when the indictment is unsealed.
