Man Killed by Plano Officer Was Here Illegally

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) — The man shot and killed by a Plano police officer Monday was not supposed to be in the state. According to WFAA-TV, Eleuterio Amaya-Torres was an illegal alien who had been deported twice. Along with being deported in 2002 and 2007, the 63-year-old had been convicted of two DWI’s.

Torres allegedly held a woman at gun point while she drove a car and he sat in the backseat. The woman eventually crashed the car into an area Quick Trip and once stopped, got out of the car and ran towards a Plano officer. Witnesses then allege that Tores began to fire at both the woman and officer. Torres was killed when the officer fired back.

Friends of the victim say Torres was a known acquaintance.
