DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) LAKE LAVON – The body of the teen who went missing after jumping off the top of a party barge has been recovered. Emergency dispatch received a call around 3 p.m. Sunday, saying a member of a church youth group had not resurfaced after jumping into the water near Clear Creek Park just south of the town of Preston.
Captain Tony Norton, a Texas Game Warden, confirmed the boy’s body was recovered around 6PM Monday evening and the victim was not wearing a life jacket.
Investigators are also looking into whether the captain of the party boat was properly licensed.
The search for the young boy had to be postponed Sunday evening due to severe weather.
