All Clear After Dallas VA Medical Center Evacuated Due To Suspicious Package

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas was partially evacuated this afternoon due to reports of a suspicious package.

The incident began about 2 o’ clock this afternoon when Veterans Affairs police were conducting an investigation that led them to an employee’s office, where the suspicious package was located.  In a statement, the hospital said the package was placed in a manner to cause harm.

The Dallas Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) was called to the scene to further investigate and determine whether or not the package was a threat. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the EOD determined the suspicious package did not pose a threat.

The 853 bed hospital is located at 4500 South Lancaster Road in Dallas.  According to the Veterans Affairs website, the location has roughly 4700 employees and 1700 volunteers.
