DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas Police Department is asking the public to help catch the suspects in an early-morning crime spree on Thursday.
Investigators released photos of two Hispanic men in a grey Chevrolet Malibu they believe are responsible for an aggravated robbery and a murder.
Major Jimmy Vaughan said the murder victim, Brent Randall, was sitting in a parked car with another victim waiting for a business to open on West Mockingbird Lane near Plantation Road.
While they were waiting, the two suspects drove up to their car and opened fire. Vaughan said the victims were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
“When the car slowly approached them, they felt that something wasn’t right and at that time the driver decided to drive off. They noticed the suspect was wearing a red bandanna over his face and was the one who shot one time into the vehicle,” he said.
Shortly before the murder, an aggravated robbery occurred at the Anchor Inn at Harry Hines and Denton Dr. Investigators said the victim was not injured and was able to give officers the same car and suspect description as the surviving victim in the Randall murder.
Vaughan said they’re not sure about the motive behind the Randall murder but they have some ideas.
“This could have been an aggravated robbery on their part. They could have been frustrated as the victims were driving off because they may have fumbled their approach for the robbery,” he said.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. You can call the tip line at 214-373-TIPS, 24 hours a day , 7 days a week.
