Plano Moves Forward with DART Plans

Cotton Belt CorridorPLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Plano has taken the first, tentative step toward construction of a new DART line.

Council agreed Monday to consider a proposed light rail line from Plano to DFW Airport.

“I’m excited to hear it’s coming sooner, rather than later,” said Plano City Councilman David Downs.

The incentive is money.  DART’s plan is to have the new line in operation by 2035.  If it sticks to that schedule, it estimates the cost at $3 billion.  If it’s built sooner, the cost could drop to $1 billion.
