Amy Chodroff 06/09/2016; Loosening the Grip!

amy for blogMy older daughter is 17 years old today. How can that be? After all, I’m still trying to lose the baby weight I gained when I was pregnant with her.

We already survived the driving thing, and now we about to dive head first into the whole college application process. I should be an expert by December, so if anyone needs any help, call me!

How will we celebrate this milestone today? With manis and pedis and then my daughter will be off enjoying dinner with her friends. The family celebration will come tomorrow night.

I barely see my daughter these days. Have car will travel. She has become very independent. She takes herself to and from school and to all of her 3,000 activities. It’s a good thing, because I couldn’t keep up! I’m exhausted just thinking about everything she does. And, she even fills up the car with gas!

It’s hard for any parent to loosen the grip on his or her child. Believe me, it was hard for me, but a very important step. If you want your child to know how to get along in the world without you, you need to let him or her fly. Of course, I’m always here as a safety net, but so far so good! Now about that baby weight….
