GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News) – The wrecking balls and backhoes will be out Tuesday at some apartments in Garland.

Hundreds of units at the Landmark at Lake Village East and West Apartments along Interstate 30 were destroyed by a tornado on Dec. 26, 2015.

Crews with Belfor will be in charge of the demolition.  Belfor is named in a lawsuit filed by several tenants who accuse workers of stealing items from some of the units in the days just after the tornado hit.  The apartment and a security company are also being sued.

Demolition is expected to take about 30 days.

Community manager Jan Austin said they’re “not prepared to announce plans about the future of the property.”
