ROWLETT (WBAP/KLIF) – It’s been three years since an EF-4 tornado ripped through Rowlett the day after Christmas.
Dozens of people are expected to gather at a memorial Wednesday night at the Spirit of Rowlett statue on Sunnybrook drive to honor the 13 people who died. Many of those killed were driving along an Interstate 30 frontage road when the tornado touched down. A moment of silence will last 16 minutes, the exact amount of time the tornado was on the ground.
The memorial is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
