DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Kappa Alpha Order has suspended its Beta Lambda chapter on the campus of Southern Methodist University for the next four years. According to the national chapter, an investigation found many violations of its risk management policies, and a separate investigation by the University revealed hazing of new members. The chapter house, located in the 3000 block of SMU Boulevard, must be vacated by all students and their belongings by 3:00 pm Saturday. This is not the first time this fraternity chapter has been in trouble. In 2009, SMU suspended the chapter after repeatedly violating rules against serving minors alcohol, as well as hosting unregistered parties. It began to reorganize in the fall of 2010. Now, the chapter will have to wait until the fall of 2021 to recruit new members.
