United States Honor Flag Headed to Louisiana After Time in Dallas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The United States Honor Flag is on its way to Louisiana after honoring the officers killed in last year’s Dallas police ambush for 91 hours, which signifies the total years of service combined by all five officers.

Founder Chris Heisler said the flag’s time in Dallas was the longest stint so far.

“This is something we don’t do very often, we’ve never done it for 91 hours. The last time the flag was here in a capacity like this an assistant district attorney was killed in Kaufman County,” he said.

The flag is on its way to Baton Rouge to honor three fallen officers there. Because of all of the travel, Heisler said the flag is guarded closely.

“This flag has six microchips sewn in the seam of the flag so we can verify the flag’s authenticity. So whenever there’s a chain of custody, we can track this flag anywhere,” he said.

Heisler said the flag has flown all over the world.

“This one single American flag has flown for over a thousand fallen police officers and firefighters. It’s moved more than seven million miles was on the last space shuttle on the International Space Station, Iraq, Afghanistan…one single American flag,” he said.

The flag has traveled the country since 9/11 paying tribute to the officer’s and firefighters killed in the line of duty.
